Not far from the elegant Regent’s Park in London lies the beautiful Marylebone district. Here the silver smith Benjamin Barling founded his workshop in 1812. Quickly he made a name for himself, decorating Meerschaum pipes of London's gentlemen with individual silver applications.

At the end of the 19th century the briar pipe increased in popularity. The Barling family bought their pipe bowls in St. Claude, as all their British competitors.

In 1906 Barling started to produce their own bowls, pipes from this era are very sought-after and collectors will pay enormous sums. 1970 the production was closed.

If you like to know more about Barling pipes, please read the Pipedia.org entry. It very detailed and informative.
